This music is unreal...
There are no songs like these...
It is...

Utopia 76 is an alternative rock band from Yaroslavl, Russian Federation. Formally Known as Utopia, Utopia 76 was established in May of 2004. Consisting of three guys and a girl: Evgeny "Gene" Zhdan, Sergey "Serge" Bystrov, Ludmila "Mila" Frolova and their new drummer Dmitry Savin, Utopia 76 is the perfect example of "The ultimate band". Starting off with nothing more than low-priced drums and guitars, the gang has developed into much more than a band.

"It was great!", lead vocalist Gene says. "Noticing that altogether we had about 20 or more songs, we decided to join up and make them as a band. We practiced two days a week and by August of 2004, we was recording our first demo, "Come As No Surprise".

Inspired by such bands as Metallica, Nirvana, Aerosmith, etc., Utopia 76 took their material to the next level by touring in Russia. "It was a success!", says Gene. "Our first show was on Jan. 7, 2005 in Moscow. The public applauded all of our songs that night". The majority of 2005 for the band was spent playing on tour in Russia.

At the time, however, they were still in need of a producer. Suddenly, in July 2005, the group stumbled across Maki Kolehmainen, owner of Helsinki Records in Helsinki, Finland. "Mr. Kolehmainen said that he loved our material and assured us that we would become stars", the band states.

Determined to become Rock legends, then Utopia, immediately rushed to their local studio and recorded five songs for their new producer. Soon after the material for Mr. Kolehmainen was complete, the band received a call from Helsinki Records to record a demo-single. They hit the road immediately. By this time, it was the winter of 2006.

Both scared and happy, themselves and producer Kolehmainen went on to choose the first two singles: "Nidus" and "A Bit Of A Lad". It took them approximately three days to record the new material. The group then agreed amongst themselves, signed a contract with Helsinki Records, and headed back home until further notice.

Suddenly, it all went wrong. The employees working for Helsinki Records mysteriously disappeared, leaving the band stranded. With both their project and career left undecided, they were back to square one. It wasn't until the spring of 2008 before they all caught their next break, Royal Black Entertainment. The independent recording label, located in the USA, almost immediately went into business with the band after listening to their material.

"At first, I admit, I was skeptical", says Founder and CEO Robert "B. Rock" Johnson. "My main concern was the band's location, Russia. "However", Robert continues, "After reviewing their material, I had to sign them." Making little haste, Johnson immediately drew up contract papers for the group. "The process will be a little lengthy", He says, "But making Utopia 76 stars can and will be done".
